What is MarineDads.us?
Welcome! This web site is for Marine Moms and Marine Dads to learn about the United States Marine Corps and to have access to an online resource of USMC web sites and shared information so we can feel a little more connected to our sons and daughters. The strength of the web site comes from the contributions of Marine Parents that share your feelings of pride, patriotism and often, fear. It's a great resource and it's free of advertising.
Our focus had been Operation Iraqi Freedom, and we will continue to support our Marines and their families and parents with the same spirit of brotherhood we've learned from our Marine sons and daughters. At the height of the war in Iraq, we had over 12,000 visitors to the web site a day; that number has now decreased to about 6000 per day. That's a lot of prayers and support for our Marines! We update the site daily with the majority of new content being added on the weekends. (Weekends are catch-up times for me. I do have a family and full-time job as well!)
We have a new section of the web site for homecomings! You'll find hot-line phone numbers to call for official announcements. We'll share unofficial annoucements from Marines, parents, wives and family. And we've even got a section to help you with your travel plans to meet your Marine at homecoming!
NEW! Photos from our Marines while in Iraq & Kuwait
Would you or your Marine like to share photos that were taken in Iraq and Kuwait during deployment for Operation Iraqi Freedom? Just let us know and we'd love to post them for you! Use the "Contact" page or see left link under Maps & News "Photos in Country".
The MarineParents.com web site was developed and is maintained by one Marine Mom. Donations to help offset costs would be welcome. Click here for more information.

Marines Recently Deployed
I've started a list of our sons and daughters on a link to the left titled "Recently Deployed Marines". This list serves two purposes; the first for Marine Moms and Marine Dads to communicate with each other and share when any of us hear news from one of our sons or daughters in the Persian Gulf Region. The second is for prayers; please come back and print the list frequently to share with friends and family for prayers.
Each one of the names on the list has parents that feel the same way I do; the same way you do. The uncertainty of what is to come brings emotions and feelings that none of us thought would be part of our lives. But we have them, and so do thousands of other parents, and this is a place to come and meet other parents to share with. You are not alone. Other Marine parents understand your pain and worry; we're feeling it too.
The list details several bits of identifying information that may help you to find a Marine parent that is near your town, or someone with a son or daughter that is stationed with your Marine, or that went to bootcamp together. For me personally, each of these names and emails that I receive brings emotions of pride and uncertainty and sadness. Each parent has written a few sentences about their Marine, and each is special and loved. Each Marine is somebody's son or daughter worthy of our respect, our pride, our devotion, and our never-ending streams of support, love, and prayers.
Although rarely displayed since World War II, the Service flag can now be seen hanging from the windows of homes with family members serving in the United States Armed Forces.
The Service Flag, also known as the "Son in Service" flag was commonly displayed during World War I and II in patriotic support of our armed forces fighting for freedom. The flag is authorized to be flown during any period of war or hostilities in which the Armed Forces of the United States may be engaged, for the duration of such period of war or hostilities.
Each blue star on the flag represents a family member serving in the Armed Forces. The blue star is replaced (or covered) with a gold star to represent a member killed or dies while serving their country during the war or hostilities.
For more information, read Service Flags. Visit our USMC Online Merchandise to order service flags.

The Marine Corps Prayer
Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines, my loved ones and Thee without shame or fear. Protect my family. Give me the will to do the work of a Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance. Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties my country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me. Make me considerate of those committed to my leadership. Help me to wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold. If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again. Guide me with the light of truth and grant me the wisdom by which I may understand the answer to my prayer.
